Emergency services staff and volunteers are routinely exposed to distressing and traumatic incidents, as well as having demanding workload pressures. As a result, they are more at risk of developing post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) than the general population. It is for this reason that myself and 5 mates are completing the Country to Capital (43 mile) Ultra Marathon for PTSD999 in January 2023. PTSD999 support anyone serving, retired and volunteering in the emergency services. They also provide advice and help to family, friends and loved ones of those who are struggling across the UK. Walk into a room with 10 people and 8 are struggling with something in the emergency services. My struggle will be to complete this ultra marathon without having run a marathon before or really doing any long distance running! Wish me luck and please sponsor me to help this awesome charity.
