I don’t do exercise. I walk because I have to get from one place to another but I struggle to motivate myself to do much else. Does this sound familiar?

This year, the RSPCA South Yorkshire Animal Centre are getting involved with a Virtual Run to raise much needed funding. I work there; I see the rescued animals brought to our care; I see a lot of challenging situations and I see how staff deal with them for the best welfare of the animals. I think people are quick to judge the RSPCA from the comfort of their computer screens. All I see is compassion, dignity and care given to rescued animals and the people who need us.

We have plans for development this year, which will secure even better outcomes for the animals and improved education on kindness to animals. From upgrading living quarters; introducing yet more enrichment opportunities; supporting disadvantaged young people to become an advocate for animals to developing our outreach programmes in schools and communities, our plans are ambitious and funding it vital.

So, for the sake of all the animals that have no voice and often have no choice, I am challenging myself to complete 30 miles in 30 days and I want as many people as possible to support me.
