Story

In April 2023, my Dad sadly passed away from pneumonia and sepsis.

Dad was a funny, caring, and sweet man who is sorely missed. He was incredibly creative and had a real talent for art - he could paint anything from landscape masterpieces to football stadia on miniature canvases.

Dad loved nature and the outdoors - particularly trips to Wales and Devon. He was a skilled gardener - anything he cared for blossomed and grew.  As a boy, Dad won medals at school for long-distance running. I'm running this half-marathon for him.

I don't know how much Dad knew about sepsis before he was diagnosed - an example of why early diagnosis, education, and support is needed for all affected (patients, families, and carers).

I would appreciate any donations to support the incredible work the UK Sepsis Trust provides to anyone affected by sepsis.

Thanks for supporting my fundraising!

Every 3 seconds, someone in the world dies of sepsis. In the UK alone, 245,000 people are affected by sepsis with at least 48,000 people losing their lives in sepsis-related illnesses every year. This is more than breast, bowel and prostate cancer combined. Globally, sepsis claims 11 million lives a year. Yet, for many patients, with early diagnosis it is easily treatable.

The UK Sepsis Trust (UKST) exists to fight this life-threatening condition, stop preventable deaths and support those affected by sepsis. Find out more below.
