Fundraising for The UK Sepsis Trust in partnership with The Amazing Northampton Run - 17th September 2023

Story

I’ve decided to run my first ever half marathon in memory of my mum who very sadly passed away in July to Sepsis.

Initially I was unsure whether I could commit to this so soon after her passing, but I know my mum would want me to get on and do it. I also want to do what I can to fundraise for The UK Sepsis Trust so hopefully more people can survive this in the future.

While I’m a keen 10k runner, I have never gone much further so this will be a step into the unknown. I might only have a month to train up, but I’m determined to give it everything and complete the full distance for my mum.

Thanks very much for reading this, and hopefully donating.

Paul

Below is some information about Sepsis, should you be interested:

Every 3 seconds, someone in the world dies of sepsis. In the UK alone, 245,000 people are affected by sepsis with at least 48,000 people losing their lives in sepsis-related illnesses every year. This is more than breast, bowel and prostate cancer combined. Globally, sepsis claims 11 million lives a year. Yet, for many patients, with early diagnosis it is easily treatable.

The UK Sepsis Trust (UKST) exists to fight this life-threatening condition, stop preventable deaths and support those affected by sepsis. Find out more below.
