In July 2024, I will be attempting my first Olympic distance Triathlon and one that's not easy either. In fact it's dubbed one of the most challenging in the UK, and some say the world!
I will be raising money for two very worthy charities and splitting donations 50/50 between them. Plastic Free North Devon and The Brain Tumour Charity are both close to my family's heart.
Why???
The Brain Tumour Charity is with out a doubt closest, as I lost both my father and aunt to Glioblastoma Multiform, one of the most aggressive brain tumours, with my father only having 6 months from first symptoms to death. The event happens to mark exactly 10 years since losing him in July 2014. We also have a close family friend undergoing treatment for one now.
Brain cancers are on the rise and are the least researched forms of cancer. The Brain Tumour Charity support those suffering the condition and also fund research.
I would really appreciate any donation you can make, big or small, to help me reach or smash my target of £350 : )
The other main charity that donations will feed is Plastic Free North Devon, who are a local environmental charity on a mission to protect and improve our environment through community-led action.
By connecting people with their natural surroundings through experience and education; supporting sustainable behaviour change and promoting environmental action they hope to deliver a radical transformation towards a healthier relationship with the natural world.
When they do their posts will show up here.
