I started training for triathlons June 2023... with that in mind my goal is to complete a full Ironman in 2025 by the time I'm 30 (the dates of previous Ironman's will mean I will technically be 30 by like a month but still...). Its funny how much you don't see when you're not looking... I have been coming to several times a year since 2018 when I met my now Fiancé Megan.  Megan and her family have been coming to Croyde since she was a little girl and it really is a second home for her family and now me, and yet, I only found out there was a triathlon event this year?! As soon as I saw it (shout out to Biffens Kitchen Instagram) I decided that I was doing it in 2024, at this point I don't think I had even been in the pool to train yet... still I thought this would be a great goal on my triathlon journey and a real halfway point before Ironman 2025! The Plastic Free North Devon community however is something I have been well aware of and having Croyde as such a major part of our life really brings it home. Its no secret that plastic is one of the biggest threats to our planet and especially our oceans and beaches, however its all a major part of our lives, I'm 99.99% sure that if you're reading this you have plastic in your hand or on your person... that's just the way it is at the moment, but that doesn't mean we cant stop pushing to reduce the use where possible. Plastic Free North Devon (PFND), is a grassroots community organisation that aims to inspire North Devon residents, tourists and businesses to drastically reduce their consumption of single-use plastic, remove it from the environment and dispose of it properly. We aim to connect people with their natural surroundings through conversations, education and events to ensure residents and visitors alike want to protect what our very existence depends on. We want to see radical transformation towards a healthier and more informed relationship with the environment.
