Wild Trail Runners Mountain Strong weekend has been put together for your community to explore more of Cumbria, this is a great way to see what the other side of the Lake District has to offer. Mags and Howard from Play in the Wild UK will be guiding you through the best parts of Shap Fells and other areas near this location. We will provide you the best hills to explore along with coaching you through various techniques that will help you become stronger on the trails and mountains.
The four days have been built specially for you and the community to join us, all routes have been planned to suit everyones abilities and we will hopefully help to build your confidence when you decide to hit those mountains.

Kit List
As always it is mandatory for every runner to have the right kit on them whilst out on the hills, this is merely for safety as the weather can change drastically along with any form of injuries that may occur.... we have to ensure we can get you off the hill safely and warm.

Exclusive Use and Group Accommodation
The New Ings Lodge accommodation is perched just on the edge of the Lake District in the village of Shap. It is easily accessible from different corners of the country thanks to being just a few minutes' drive from the M6 and only a short drive away from the beautiful Lake District National Park.
House & Contents
The house has 11 bedrooms and 11 bathrooms sleeping all together 33 people. The breakdown of the rooms is the following:
2 x doubles with their own private bathrooms (one bed in king size)
2 x double ensuite (one is king size double)
3 x triple en suite (one is 3 single beds, two have a king size double and a single)
2 x family en suite (both king size double and 2 singles)
2 x 4-bedded dormitory rooms with private bathrooms
All the bedding and towels are provided for the bedrooms and there’s complementary shower gels and hand washes in the bathrooms.
Besides the bedrooms, we have a comfortable living room with a log burner and adjoining dining room that can easily sit 24 guests.
Grounds & Garden
There is an acre of kept grounds at the back of the building, which is perfect for running around. There are also a couple of picnic tables and an undercover seating/smoking area as well as a charcoal barbecue.
There is also a volleyball net at the top of the field for some friendly matches. As well as the back garden, there is also a walled orchard at the front of the property. We’ve also got a 10-person sauna available for use after a day out on the fells.
BAR
There is a cosy bar within the lodge called The Staggering Wanderer which can fit many happy people and can be used for all runners to bring their own choice of drinks. Unfortunately, alcohol is not included in the price.
Your Stay
Parking: there is room for up to 10 cars on site. You can park 3-4 cars in front of the house and more at the back of the house. If you have more than 10 vehicles, you might need to park some of the off site on the side of the road.
Checking in: check in is from 15:30 onwards on the day of your arrival.
Checking out: check out is by 11:30 on the day of your departure.
Village Life
Shap village has a Co-op, which is just two minutes’ walk down the road from the lodge and it is open every day from 7 am to 10 pm (times vary on bank holidays). if you have forgotten anything or need to buy some snacks for the fells you have this to fall back on.
As with all government guidelines we will be limiting our group sizes to ensure we have enough space for everyone at the accommodation, we will also be following the England Athletics guidelines to ensure we are up to date on any changes with guiding groups of runners. We will supply hand sanitisers/face masks for all to use, lateral flow tests will be done daily and for changes in restrictions we will offer to move you to another date, or 100% refunds will be given.
