About the event

Join Running Adventures for a weekend of trail running on the stunning island of Menorca, home to the wonderful Cami de Cavells trail. This trail offers a journey through nature and history. Once an ancient military path built to protect Menorca from invaders, it is now a continuous nature trail that protects the environment and heritage of the island.

For this trail weekend, we will be staying in the wonderful Artiem Capri Hotel in Mahon. Our weekend will begin with a short run around the local area, with maybe a cheeky beer or ice cream stop towards the end if we're in the mood.

On Day 2 we will take a short mini bus ride to the south of the island, home to beautiful pine forests and incredible secluded coves and beaches. Our 12 mile run will begin with a visit to the Cova des Coloms, a huge natural cave located in the Binigaus ravine. On arriving at the cave, we'll work our way through a small entrance, swathed in vegetation, which leads into a vast cavity 24 metres high, 15 metres wide and 110 metres long. After a bit of Indiana Jones-esque exploring, we'll continue our run, down to the south coast. Here we will pick up the Cami de Cavells trail through lush pine forests and ravines before coming back along the coast, where we will wind our way along wild trails, past deserted beaches and bright Caribbean colours

Day 3 will see us take a short mini bus trip to the Favàritx lighthouse in the North East of the island. From here we will enjoy 11 miles along one of the most beautiful stretches of the Cami de Cavells trail. We will enter the Albufera Nature Park, home to incredible flora and fauna, and follow coastal trails past more beaches with crystal clear waters, before finishing at stunning Cala Mesquida beach for some chill and swim time.

Throughout the weekend, there will also be plenty of time to relax and explore the beautiful old town of Mahon.

All runs are guided by me, a trail running coach, mountain leader and Salomon ambassador. We will run at a social pace and walk the hills if we have to. This is not a race! We will stay as a group so if you are a faster runner, please expect to run slower than you would normally.

Previous trail running experience is not 100% necessary, but is preferable. The terrain will vary hugely, from small road sections to wide trails, narrow trails and some very technical, rocky, trails. Don't worry, we will be on hand to coach you and show you the techniques needed to run on such terrain. You will need a good level of fitness to enjoy this weekend. If you are unsure, please contact me to discuss.

Important: You should be able to cover the distances (on UK trails) at a pace of at least 10-11 min/miles to enjoy this event.
