About the events

Starting and finishing by the beach on the Ryde Esplanade, we will take you on a wonderful 30 mile ultra run along beaches, trails and through coastal towns as we explore the beautiful Isle of Wight.

You will be guided by myself, an experienced ultra runner, running coach and Salomon ambassador. This run may be hilly in parts, but is still perfect as your first taste of ultra running, the route is taken care of and you will get the chance to learn from an experienced ultra runner, and get any running questions you may have answered.

We will begin by heading east along the Isle of Wight Coast Path, past beautiful beaches, with views across the Solent towards the mainland. We will run a mixture of beach, trail and through small holiday resort towns as we work our way down to 'The Landslip'. It is here where we will climb up through the famous 'Devil's Chimney', a narrow and steep rock formation. From here we will climb up onto Ventnor and Shanklin Downs, offering stunning views in every direction. We will start working our way north, back towards Ryde through small villages and beautiful woodland before finally arriving at Quarr Abbey, from here we will rejoin the coast path back into Ryde, where we can either jump straight onto the boat back to Portsmouth, or enjoy some Fish and Chips on the beach.

Pace: This is not a race! We will run as a group and share this experience together. I would advise that you have run at least 22 miles in training before trying this event and you should be able to run 10 min/miles (6-7 min/km) on the road, and have a good level of fitness. Ultra running first timers encouraged!

Kit: A full kit list will be provided.

Getting there: You can get the Wightlink Ferry from Portsmouth to Ryde, our run will begin and finish right next to the Ferry Port. I recommend getting the 09:15 Ferry from Portsmouth to Ryde, and the 18:45 ferry back to Portsmouth. Tickets are flexible so if we take a bit longer than expected, it's not a problem.

COVID-19: View our guidelines and precautions here. If the run is cancelled by Running Adventures due to COVID-19, you will be offered the choice of a refund or transfer to a later event.
