The Green Lantern

After the success of the first Green Lantern, which saw 200 entries run this way marked route, we've decided to make it part of our Wild Run Series.

The Green Lantern is a circular 14 mile ' half marathon', which follows the Green Circle clockwise around Exeter, through wooded valleys, meadows, bicycle lanes and the banks of the Exe.

The Green Lantern details

  • Turn up, collect your race pack and run. Runners can run in pairs or with their partners or running buddies, in groups or solo.
  • We have made it a self navigation rolling start event, with an hour long star window.
  • Rolling starts within a one hour start window will be permitted with up to eight people.
  • All entrants will receive chip timing, an A3 waterproof map of the route, a poem to way mark the route, a zoom 3D overview of the course and a Youtube walkthrough.
  • Starts and finishes in the piazza  in Haven Road opposite the Quay Climbing Centre, Exeter EX2 8AX.

The Green Circle around Exeter

This is a lovely mix of trails, meadows, playing fields and flatlands which run alongside the Exe, through the beautiful Ludwell Valley, Hoopern Valley, Redhills and Mincing Lake Country Park.

It links the industrial heritage of the city with some of its most inspiring natural surroundings in a way that will have you looking at the city in a new light.

Key Information

  • Each entry will help raise money for the FORCE cancer counselling unit at RD&E. In June, we managed to raise £800 for FORCE from our own donations.
  • Starting from Haven Banks, Exeter’s Quayside area opposite The Quay Climbing Centre, runners will turn right and cross the Exe via the weirs, running through the Hoopern Valley, through the University campus, Mincing Lake park, the Ludwell valley and the Barley Valley.
  • This is our new addition to the 202/22 Wild Run Series and our first urban trail run.
  • Anyone can run as a team of up to eight, or as an individual.
  • Your actual finishing time from dib to finish, will be included in the final results, which will be available live on Google Spreadsheets.
