Intermediate Alps

Chamonix is a must visit for any trail runner. It sits at the foot of the majestic snow covered peak of Mt Blanc which towers over the town, standing 4810m tall. Chamonix hosts the world famous UTMB (Ultra-Trail du Mont Blanc) race and is a mecca for professional trail running athletes and the buzz of the town and the beauty of the trails provide an inspiring backdrop to this Intermediate Alps trip, a follow up to our Introduction to the Alps weekend. On this holiday we provide a 2 full day running adventure break aimed at those looking to build on their experience and ability of running in the mountains. Being out on the trails for most of the day provides us with more time to explore some of the higher trails that sit above the Chamonix valley, all of which offer stunning views and great balcony routes. It also means we can go further away from Chamonix centre to explore other trails and maximise your time in the valley. Our local, experienced, trail running guides will lead the group as a team along these trails. Along the way your guide will also look at some of the trail techniques such as mastering the uphills and downhills that will make you a more proficient trail runner and also provide lots of interesting information about this incredibly diverse mountain environment. Each of our guides are experienced at trail running, both in racing, often placing highly in local and world trail events, as well as solo adventures, so it's an excellent opportunity to ask questions and get some inside tips on how to succeed at trail running in the mountains. It's impossible not to be inspired running along trails offering such breath taking views of Mt Blanc as well as the Aiguilles (needles)! You will be out on the trail for around 6 hours each day, including a stop for lunch. Since we want you to enjoy the best that Chamonix has to offer, you will be staying in a 4* spa hotel with access to a pool and other amenities so you can unwind and enjoy the views whilst receiving a well earnt rest. On the Friday evening we will meet up for dinner with your guide as well as some of the Run the Wild Team and enjoy a meal together in a reputable restaurant in Chamonix. As with all Run the Wild holidays, all you need to do is turn up and run - we will take care of the rest!
