About the event

Experience the thrill of trail running in the stunning Yorkshire Dales with Running Adventures! Join us for an unforgettable weekend as we take on the legendary Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge, starting from Horton in Ribblesdale, a charming village nestled in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales National Park.

We will be staying in the lovely '3 Peaks Bunkroom' in Horton on Ribblesdale, which has plenty of parking, kitchen and rooms of no more than 6 people. The accommodation sits right on the route, making it the perfect place to start and finish our adventure on the trails.

On Saturday, we will be running the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge, a 24 mile (38.6km) round trip route, featuring a total ascent of 1585m (5200ft). This trail running adventure will lead us to the peaks of Pen-y-Ghent (694m), Whernside (736m), and Ingleborough (723m). While hikers aim to complete the challenge within 12 hours, our approach will involve a steady pace, combining hiking the hills with running the flats and descents.

On Sunday, for those with a bit of extra energy, we will run a steady 10km (885ft/269m elevation) loop from the bunkhouse, taking in Hull #CENSOR# and some of the Pennine Way, before saying our goodbyes.

Throughout the weekend, there will be plenty of opportunities to question your host, Matt Buck, about all things trail running. Matt will give you trail running technique guidance, help with fuelling, pacing and so much more. This is your chance to learn everything there is to know about running trails.

IMPORTANT: This weekend includes rugged terrain, lots of elevation and takes place in an unforgiving environment, we want everyone to be safe. Therefore, to join this challenge, I recommend that you have completed a marathon or ultra distance run within 6 months of the event, you don't need to be a trail running expert, but you must have a good level of fitness and be able to run for prolonged periods at 10 min/mile (6:15 min/km) pace (on the flats and downs).
