Join thousands of amazing ladies cycling around London at night on the Women V Cancer flagship challenge!

After two long years apart, we cannot wait to reunite and make a greater impact than ever for people facing breast, ovarian and cervical cancers. To all our long-time Women V Cancer warriors, we’ve missed you! And to all the first-time riders, we’re excited to meet you!

In 2022, Ride the Night will be more special than ever! More sparkle. More excitement. And most importantly, more funds raised for the three vital Women V Cancer charities, Breast Cancer Now, Ovarian Cancer Action and Jo's Cervical Cancer Trust.

Starting and finishing at the beautiful Royal Windsor Racecourse, you’ll meet hundreds of friends - old and new - as we come together in our hundreds to prepare for the ride with motivational music, speeches from our three incredible charities and warm-ups.

Then it's time to set off in waves for your chosen route. Pedalling past Westminster Abbey, the London Eye, the Tate Modern, Tower Bridge and loads more iconic landmarks, you’ll light up London with your bright pink Ride the Night vests and the sparkling Women V Cancer spirit. All the while, you’ll get fit and make a bunch of wonderful new friends.

Places are limited and are already flying fast, so what are you waiting for? Sign up now to cycle 50km or 100km and paint the capital city pink!

The brighter the better!

Nothing raises spirits and motivation more than a bit of sparkle, so why not #CENSOR# up your ride with pink accessories?

Our Ride the Night warriors come dressed up in all sorts, from flamingo helmet hats and tutus to superhero capes, fairy lights and even Where's Wally costumes!

Come dressed in anything, providing you can cycle safely for the whole night!

Check-in to Ride the Night 2022 from 6pm at the beautiful Royal Windsor Racecourse which marks both the start and end of our challenge, with the first wave of cyclists setting off at 9pm.

There's free parking with plenty of space at the racecourse for all participants (please feel free to bring your campervan if you'd like to camp here after you've conquered your ride).

We'll also have a bag drop, stalls for each of our amazing Women V Cancer charities, bikes available to pre-book from British Bike Hire and stands with refreshments available for you and your supporters to purchase.

That’s not all! It wouldn’t be Ride the Night without our fantastic speeches, motivational music, warm-ups and entertainment!

Take this opportunity to relax and make friends with your fellow Ride the Night warriors, before you're called to your start wave. With thousands of you all dressed up in bright outfits, it's also a great time for a selfie or ten!

from 9pm

staggered starts

You will be set off in groups of seventy-five women at two-minute intervals to take on your 50km or 100km route around London.

You can select your distance and start time when registering (9.00pm, 9.30pm, 10 pm or 10.30pm). Each start wave has a limited number of spaces, so please register now to secure your preferred start time.

Both the 50km and 100km route will take you past loads of iconic London landmarks, which will look even more beautiful lit up at night.

The 50km route won't be circular but will end in the lights of Central London (venue TBC) - and a crew of wonderful Ride Makers and staff will be there to congratulate you as you pedal those last few metres!

Our free shuttle busses will drive you and your bike from the finish point back to Windsor. If you would prefer to travel directly from your starting point back home, please feel free to make your own travel arrangements.

Our 100km route will be circular and very similar to the route on previous years.

We'll have Feed Stations along the way (details TBC) with a variety of tasty, free snacks and drinks (with vegan and gluten free options available) to keep you energised throughout the challenge. Each Feed Station will also have first aid support, bike mechanics and toilet facilities.

Ride the Night is not a race and there are no event timings. We anticipate that faster cyclists will complete the 100km route in about five hours, whilst slower cyclists will take up to ten hours. The 50km route should take around three to five hours.

The cut off time is 7am on Sunday morning, but no-one will be left behind, as we will have a sweeper van behind the final group of cyclists.

funding options

sponsorship

The more money raised by participants on the challenge, the higher the percentage of funds that will directly support those affected by women's cancers!

£100

Minimum sponsorship target

Pay a non-refundable registration fee of £45 which is used to cover the administrative costs and secure your place on the event.

We ask you to raise a minimum of £100 for the Women V Cancer charities.

There is no deadline for this, but we encourage you to try and hit the target by the event date.

The more money you raise on this challenge, the higher the percentage of that money will go directly towards the charities – and the bigger impact you will make in our mission against cancer.

women v cancer ride the night london 2022

Ride the Night isn’t designed for Olympic athletes - it’s designed for women from all cycles of life looking for a challenge to train and get fit for.

Cycling 100km (approx. 62 miles) or 50km (approx. 31 miles) at night is a challenge, but it’s definitely achievable with a reasonable amount of training.

A number of the women who will take part in this exciting challenge will have a low fitness level when they sign up. Ride the Night is the perfect motivation to train and get fit, all whilst raising funds for three amazing charities.

There’s no minimum sponsorship target, but we ask you to aim for £100 or more, so that your challenge can make a difference for people affected by cancer.

The money you raise is split evenly between our three charities and will go a long way to help them continue their vital work in a critical time...

£30 could buy a bottle of specialist dye to stain cancer cells, so that Ovarian Cancer Action’s researchers can study them with a microscope.

£100 can enable Breast Cancer Now to send out another 1,000 leaflets to GPs to promote breast checking and inform about the signs and symptoms of breast cancer.

£500 will enable Jo’s Cervical Cancer Trust to provide a weekend of training to two new Helpline volunteers supporting hundreds of women.

Join the 500 club!

If you raise £500 or more by 30th March 2022, you will get a free official 500 club cycling jersey.

We're afraid men can't participate in this Women V Cancer challenge. However, they are more than welcome to join the cause as a Ride Maker (aka. Ride the Night volunteer).

We'll have a range of roles for both men and women, from supervising the bike racks to helping out at registration or the rest stops and more.

See the range of Ride Maker roles available here.

If you'd like to help out as a Ride Maker, please fill out this quick application form and we'll contact you to confirm your place as a volunteer.

Yes! We are delighted to have British Bike Hire supporting Women V Cancer Ride the Night London 2022! If you'd like to hire a bike, please book in advance from the British Bike Hire website here. It won't be possible to hire a bike last minute from them.

You will then be able to collect your hire bike from the British Bike Hire stand at Windsor Racecourse on the big night once you've checked in for the event. What's more, right now British Bike Hire are offering an exclusive 20% discount to Ride the Night 2022 participants who book with the code BBHEVENTS20

Please also remember to bring your own helmet.

Another awesome thing about the Royal Windsor Racecourse is that there will be free parking for all participants!

The car park will open at 5pm on Saturday, with last access at 7.30pm.

Parking at the racecourse is free and car-sharing is recommended to ease congestion. On arrival to the Rider Entrance at the racecourse, a Ride the Night steward will greet and direct you.

Please feel free to bring your campervan if you'd like to camp here after you've conquered your ride.

Yes, you can camp for free at the Windsor Racecourse after you come back from your ride. Please note, though, that the racecourse isn't a camp site, so you won't have access to power, water etc.

It is vital that you follow the Highway Code throughout the challenge and please note that there will not be road closures for the event.

The route is well lit and on quieter roads wherever possible - however once you arrive in central London there will be traffic and you should be confident to deal with this.

We recommend that you don't ride alone at any part of the challenge. However, don't be afraid of signing up solo - we have a Lone Riders Facebook group and meet-up on the night, so you
