You saw it at the Tokyo Olympics & now we’re bringing it to Torbay!
Olympic Team Relay Triathlon for ages 13+
The event starts with a simultaneous start for a 300m swim (12 teams per wave, 4 waves, 2 to a lane for each wave) then into transition to bike four laps of the Velopark ride on smooth tarmac before finishing off with a 2km parkland run. You will then run back to the pool for the second teammate to take over. It’s a snake start swim for all subsequent team members.
You will need 4 competitors per team with a minimum of 2 female members. All male teams or 75 percent male teams are permitted and we will publish results for them but won’t be eligible for prizes. We’ve had so much interest that we’ve expanded the field to 48 teams.
24th APRIL - Torbay triathlon spring
from 9:30 am
This totally traffic-free venue is the perfect way for anyone to start in the sport of triathlon, with a pool based swim, followed by a Velopark ride on smooth, flat tarmac and a flat parkland run. There is also a category for relay teams.
The swim, in the recently refurbished 25m pool is followed by between one and 10 laps on the super-smooth tarmac of the Velopark. The race finishes with a one or two lap run (depending on your category) on a fast parkland course.
And on Saturday afternoon we have our NEW Team Relay in the Olympic format you saw at the Tokyo Olympics.

Our mission is to deliver excellent endurance sports events to a wide range of ages & abilities. Our events include triathlons & duathlons, open water swimming, gravel and road cycling sportives & road & trail running races.
We work #CENSOR# delivering excellent events. And that is a challenge as no venue is perfect and dealing with landowners, traffic, councils, the general public & other stakeholders can be tough.
In October 2020 we moved some running races, previously co-organised as part of the Wild Night Run Series, under the Sportiva umbrella. And in August 2021 we acquired some cycling sportives, previously run by Just Event. Like all event organisers we’ve had a tough couple of years with the pandemic but are hoping for a return to near-normality in 2022.
We couldn’t deliver these events without a great team of people including Helen Simcoe Walker, Nigel Evans, Dawn Lamerton, Rachel Harvey & Tim Mockford.
