The Original Swanage Triathlon Festival is set in the seaside town of Swanage which resides in an area of outstanding beauty know as The Isle of Purbeck in Dorset. The open water swim is within Swanage Bay where if the water's are clear, you may be able to spot some great sea life. The bike section is not for the faint hearted as includes several hill climbs but when you go up, you must come down including a great descent on Kingston Hill! The run heads North out of Swanage Town and up onto Ballard Down Ridge, an area of chalk downland on the Purbeck Hills. The routes are challenging but the views are worth it, we promise!

Sprint Distance Triathlon: 750m swim, 23km bike, 6.5km run
Standard Distance Triathlon: 1500m swim, 38km bike, 10km run
Middle Distance Triathlon: 1900m swim, 77km bike, 21km run
Aquathlon Sprint Distance: 750m swim, 6.5km run
Aquabike Middle Distance: 1900m swim, 77km bike
Long Swim: 2.5km or 5km
With this many options, its the perfect club getaway weekend where there is something for everyone.
Swanage is wonderful little seaside town with a whole lot for the family to do. This is a true weekend away that happens to involve Triathlon!

There are always questions that you might have, the common ones are answered below.
What time does it start?
First starts will be around 0630. Head to your my.challenging.events account to find your specific start time.
What are the routes for the Long Swim?
The long swim will be laps. There will be an Aussie exit on each lap. This means you will swim to the shore line, be able to take a drink and run back into the water for your next lap. The routes are on the website however it is always subject to change (weather conditions, number of entrants, etc) The route will be clearly marked by buoys and plenty of kayakers guiding you.
How will registration work?
You will register online. About 7 days before event day we will send you an email. You will then need to complete the Competitor Responsibility Statement and Covid Health Screening Questionnaire online. This avoids the queue at number pick up. You must do this otherwise you will not be able to get your race number. If you have missed any email you can find it by going to your my.challenging.events account.
Do I need a wetsuit?
Yes, we encourage everyone to wear a wetsuit. If you an experienced skins swimmer and taking part in the long swim, we ask that you use a tow float instead of a wetsuit (please bring your own). We also follow BTF rules so if the water temp is between 14 and 22 degrees wetsuits are optional.
Where do I find my race number?
Head to my.challenging.events and complete the competitor statement and covid screening first. This will then show your race number and start time.
Can spectators come?
Yes! Swanage is an awesome weekend to bring the fan club. There will be a coffee van and pizza van at Sandpit field to keep your spectators fed and watered!

Cycling Events
We host 3 sportives each year (and hopefully a 4th in 2021). With distances between 47 and 102-miles, our sportives offer something for everyone.
Running Events
We host 6 running events each year, from closed road, to beach and trail runs we offer 5K, 5-mile, 10K, half Marathon and full Marathon distances.
Swimming Events
We host at least 3 swimming events each year with two sea swims, at least one lake swim and possibly a river swim too.
