About the event

Located on the grounds that Cola the Huntsman is mentioned in the doomsday book and the famous hunting playground of William the Conqueror. Now we are no longer hunting wild animals they roam freely, we now hunt PB's! The course is a fast one! Start with a smooth swim in the stunning Ellingham Lake, followed by a bike through the beautiful New Forest National Park and end with a pretty flat run through quiet country roads making this a perfect early season triathlon.

Choose from a middle distance, standard or sprint distance triathlon. We also have an aquabike and duathlon option if you don't fancy all three disciplines or grab a couple of mates and take on the relay option.

Sprint distance triathlon: 400m swim, 35km bike, 5km run

Standard distance triathlon: 1100m swim, 35km bike, 10km run

Middle distance triathlon: 1900m swim, 90km bike, 21km run

Duathlon distance: 5km run, 35km bike, 5km run

AquaBike distance: 1900m swim, 90km bike

Awesome medal and t-shirt for all finishers.

This event will also be supporting Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance. HIOWAA is an independent Charity that brings an advanced Critical Care Team to the most seriously ill and injured patients in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight, giving them the best chance of survival and recovery, when the worst happens. It currently costs £15,000 a day to maintain their life saving service. You can find out more information on what they do HERE

FAQ

There are always questions that you might have, the common ones are answered below.

What will registration look like?

You will register online. About 7 days before event day we will send you an email. You will then need to complete the Competitor Responsibility Statement and Covid Health Screening Questionnaire online. This avoids the queue at number pick up. You must do this otherwise you will not be able to get your race number. If you have missed any email you can find it by going to your my.challenging.events account.

When is the race briefing?

To avoid crowds we will do the race briefing via a webinar on Wednesday evening. You will be emailed a google meets invite. Don't worry if you can't make the briefing, it will be recorded for you to watch when you can. You must watch the briefing. Any emergency updates will be communicated on race day, either via email or as you head into transition. Go to your my.challenging.events account

When will I get my race pack?

Race packs will be made 72 hours before pick up. They will contain your wristband and swim hat. There will be extra registration desks to allow the queue to move quickly. You must know your race number before arrival. We encourage all athletes to collect their pack from Ellingham on Saturday between 3pm and 5pm. For those unable to pick up their pack on Saturday you can collect on Sunday from Ellingham at 5:45am

How will you do a socially distanced start?

You will be allocated an arrival time. This arrival time is when you are to collect your race pack. You will be allocated a start time. This is the time you will cross the start line. You MUST be at the start area 10 minutes before your start time. If you are late your chip timing would have started and you will need to wait until the last person has started before you can go. Its really important to be on top of your timings. You will have about 45 minutes between arrival time and your start time. This is plenty of time to rack, visit the loo and get ready. We will allocate your start time based on your predicted swim time. Faster swimmers will start first. This will avoid athletes having to get too close to each other around buoys etc. You race number will be allocated in numerical order - Fastest swimmer is 1, second fastest is 2 etc. This will make it easy for you to see when you need to stand in the queue to start. Please listen to the marshals, as it is a time trial/individual starts its really important we stay on time.

How will the finish work?

You will get that same finish line feeling but in a slightly different way. Your well-earned medal will be laid on a table ready for you to collect. There will be a sealed container of water for you and a sealed banana. Unfortunately, COVID-19 has ruined our usual amazing finish line spread! Then you are encouraged to leave the finish area quickly. You are able to recover outside this area where there is more space. Again please respect the social distancing rules.

Can we have spectators?

Yes, but please follow the socially distancing rules

Will I be able to get a coffee/food?

Yes! We will have our awesome coffee van serving hot drinks plus New Forest Inn serving hot food, ideal for when youve finished! They take card payment.

What time does it start?

TBC: Sprint and standard will start between 6:45 and 7:25 Middle and Aquabike will start from 7:25am Duathlon will start at 8:30am

Will there be an aid station?

There will not be an aid station on the bike, you must be self sufficient with two full bottles . There will be a water station on the run course at roughly 2.5K and 10K . This will be stocked with Highfive energy drink, water and highfive gels
