The Summit Wild Ultra is a beautiful but brutal trail ultra marathon (50k), which follows the South West Coast Path from the Something Wild festival venue in Hope Cove, out to South Sands in Salcombe, before returning via Bolt Head and Bolt Tail, then back to the festival fulcrum at Hope Cove before heading out to Aveton Gifford via Bantham and returning to Hope Cove. Runners then complete a small 10k loop via Bolt Tail and Bolberry Down.
Runners can park and camp at our family friendly festival, where there will be a cafe serving delicious food, a bar, forest school and some music,

The 9th Something Wild Festival 2023 has Devon’s best trail running routes at its heart, a wonderful new venue and new routes, taking in the Avon and Salcombe estuaries and some of the best sections of the South West Coast Path
We have a fantastic venue for the Something Wild Festival, close to the sea, which sits at the fulcrum of the event routes and we’ve found the perfect spot, with the camping site, at the fulcrum of the race routes. We have moved the festival back to September, so there is little chance of ‘scrub fires’, which have occurred on this coastline in the summer.
Make this an autumn to remember and bring your family.
This year, we are kicking off the festival with a Friday night race, preceded by a cafe and bar, selling beer and non alcoholic beer provided by Salcombe Brewery.
The Festival site
The farmer has kindly given access to his fields, overlooking the idyllic Hope Cove, and you’ll be hard pressed to find a better location to wake up to in the south west. close to ideal swimming spots in Hope Cove, East Soar and Bantham Bay.
This year, we will have a camp village and festival village, which will be clearly separated, to allow flow and easy access.
The campsite is suitable for up to 50 tents, parking and camper vans, as well as and serving as the fulcrum for all our trail events, which is ideal for spectators.
We’ll be offering extra toilet facilities and basic showers, as well as two lovely venues for our speaker’s and comedy evening.
Unique South West Coast Path Trails
We have lined up some of the best coast routes on the South West Coast path for our night run, 5k, 10k or half marathon, marathon and Summit Wild Ultra as well as kid’s races.
We will kick off the festival with a family friendly guided run on Friday, before the swim run and Hard Rock Coast swim, as well as 10k and 5k events on Saturday and the half marathon, marathon and ultra on the Sunday.
On the Saturday evening, there will be a fire and music in the main venue.
Forest School
You can drop your kids at forest school from 10am to 11 on Sunday or 3pm to 4pm, with our experienced and qualified forest school leader, while taking part in an event, or one of our guided wild swims.
To join the forest school, you can buy tickets separately or book weekender tickets (camping and parking).
Entertainment
There’ll be music on Saturday evening and a speakers evening and cafe on Friday evening to kick start the weekend.
