About the events

Starting and finishing on the beautiful Harting Down, this run features some of the best parts of the South Downs Way and surrounding areas, including Beacon Hill, Cocking Down and Kingley Vale.

You will be guided by myself, an experienced ultra runner, running coach and Salomon athlete. This run may be hilly, but is still perfect as your first taste of ultra running, the route is taken care of and you will get the chance to learn from an experienced ultra runner, and get any running questions you may have answered.

We will explore the trails of the South Downs Way before heading towards the south coast through ancient woodland, small villages and nature reserves. We'll visit Kingley Vale, Kingley Vale is known for its twisted and ancient yews and includes a grove of veteran trees which are among the oldest living things in Britain. The run will also see us pick up the Sussex border path and small sections of the Shipwrights Way and the Staunton Way.

We finish where we started on Harting Down, where we will say our goodbyes.

Pace: This is not a race! We will run as a group and share this experience together. I advise that you have run at least 22 miles in training before trying this event. You should be able to comfortably run an average pace of 10 min/miles | 6 min/km for prolonged periods of time on the trail, and have a suitable level of fitness. Ultra running first timers encouraged!

Kit: A full kit list will be provided, I have Salomon Sense Ride 2 and Speedcross 5 trail shoes available to test, please state your size during registration if interested.

Getting there: Harting Down isn't far from the A3, offering excellent transport links by car. Full details will be provided.

Info: We will be in touch with further detailed information and instructions a few days before the run, if you haven't heard from us, please get in contact.

FREE BEER: Running Adventures have partnered with the wonderful Days Brewing Company, one of the most delicious alcohol free beers around. You can expect to receive a lush beer (subject to availability) at the end of the run to either enjoy with your new found running pals, or take home to have another time.

COVID-19: View our guidelines and precautions here. If the run is cancelled by Running Adventures due to COVID-19, you will be offered the choice of a refund or transfer to a later event.
