BIKE - HIKE - CANOE
With awards for first, second, and third fastest teams, as well as fastest all-female, mixed, and 'Golden Oldies' (teams with a combined age of 200+), the newly added best dressed team award, as well as the all-important best team spirit, there's a reason for everyone to keep pushing right until the very end!
Please note that there will be an online safety briefing in advance of the event where you will receive a full briefing with our events partner on everything to expect on the day, as well as an opportunity to ask any burning questions. You will need to attend a registration the evening before (Friday 9 September), where you will register, and drop your bags and bike if you wish.
Race The Sun is a fundraising challenge involving participants raising £450 per person (£1800 per team) by six weeks after the event date. Your dedicated Events contact will be on hand with tips and support to help you reach your target in an achievable way. By taking part in Race The Sun, not only will you have an exhilarating day but you will also be raising money for an incredibly worthwhile cause joining our fight for little lives.
How your day will look
Dawn 6am – Following breakfast, teams will start setting off on bikes. Throughout the course of the day you will:
Bike 55 miles – around the incredible winding roads and lanes of the Brecon Beacons and alongside the Brecon and Monmouthshire canal*
Hike 7.5 miles – to the summit of Pen Y Fan, the highest mountain in the Brecon Beacons and a famous testing ground for the British army*
Canoe 2 miles – navigating the course as a team in open top canoes*
*all distances are subject to weather conditions on the day
Dusk Push on to the finish line and collect your hard-earned medal, have a drink on us and enjoy your well deserved celebration BBQ!
