About the event

White Star Running returns once again to Rushmore Estate in Wiltshire and its amazing countryside scenery to host the popular Ox weekend of races. A series of trail races held over weekend that consist of daytime and nighttime 10Ks, half-marathon, 50-mile race and a ‘do-as-many-laps-as-you-fancy’ 12-hour Frolic event for teams and solos.

This event is far from flat, but it’s set in stunning forest and woodland, which provides the canvas for bluebells and wild garlic. This weekend has something that will appeal to all, from speedsters who want to test themselves at the front to a more relaxed, fun, everyone-welcome friendly party at the back.

The Ox race weekend offers you the special chance to get your hands on an Epic medal. Complete the 50-mile race and one other to earn your extra bling, or set yourself the monster of all challenges and complete all five races.

Friday 6th

Dark Ox – Like previous years, this starts in the light (ish) and gets darker. Get a good headtorch! Lots opportunities to fall over and get lost. Distance is 10.5K ish in the fantastic Chase Woods.

Saturday 7th

Ox 50 – 10 laps of our 5-mile course, making it pretty much 50 miles exactly! This is a shorter loop than in previous years, but you get just as much of the great scenery and views.

Frolic – Laps of 5 miles of glorious woodland to run around as many times as you like as a solo runner or in a team. See our helpful Frolic guide here. With a separate start for dog runners who want to complete the course with their canine friends.

Dog runners: do not let the dogs off the lead as the woods are full of deer and pheasants… and peasants!

Sunday 8th

Light Ox – This is the 10.5K ish lap in the daylight for your chance to actually see the woodland. Dog runners also have the chance to participate in this distance.

Ox Half – A different start to all the other races, taking in the some of the valleys on the Estate and their beautiful views before heading into the woodland to complete the course. This is a tough race and good finisher for the weekend; you’ll need to get some hill training in as it’s got 1700ft of climbing… warned ya! 13.5 miles long.
