About the event

Join me, an experienced ultra runner, coach, and mountain leader, for a fun and practical navigation workshop designed specifically for trail runners. Whether you’re a seasoned runner or just starting out, this workshop will equip you with the skills and confidence to navigate the trails like a pro.

Why Join This Workshop?

Many runners hesitate to explore new trails for fear of getting lost. This hands-on session will help you overcome those fears by teaching you essential navigation techniques, from map reading to GPS use. You’ll leave feeling ready to tackle unfamiliar routes with confidence.

What to Expect:

This workshop is tailored for runners of all levels who can comfortably run 5km. Numbers are strictly limited to ensure a personal coaching experience and plenty of time for questions.

We’ll begin with a practical session to master navigation skills and finish with a short trail run to put your new knowledge into action.

Topics We’ll Cover:

    • Paper maps: symbols, contour lines, scale, and distance

    • Orienting a map and understanding elevation

    • Using a compass: taking and following a bearing

    • GPS watches and apps: route plotting and following (e.g., OS Maps, Suunto)

    • Identifying key landmarks and checkpoints

    • Navigating in real-time and troubleshooting

Maps and compasses will be provided if you don't have your own.
