About the events

Starting and finishing at West Hanger, near Guildford, this run features some of the best parts of the North Downs Way AND the Greensand Way.

You will be guided by myself, an experienced ultra runner, running coach and Salomon athlete. I also happen to hold the 'Fastest Known Time' for the whole of the Greensand Way (123 miles in 31 hours), so no one know the trail better than me!

This run is perfect as your first taste of ultra running, the route is taken care of and you will get the chance to learn from an experienced ultra runner, and get any running questions you may have answered.

We will begin our run by following the North Downs Way towards, and then past, Box Hill before making our way south to the Greensand Way. Once on the Greensand Way, a beautiful trail, we will head west. Our first big challenge will be to take on Leith Hill, the highest point in the South East of England. From there we will tick off various summits along the trail, including Pitch Hill and Holmbury Hill, all offering incredible views to the south. Finally, we will head north towards Shere and back to where we started.

Pace: This is not a race! We will run as a group and share this experience together. I would advise that you have run at least 22 miles in training before trying this event and you should be able to run 10 min/miles (6-7 min/km) on the road, and have a good level of fitness. Ultra running first timers encouraged!

Kit: A full kit list will be provided, I have Salomon Sense Ride 2 and Speedcross 5 trail shoes available to test, please state your size during registration if interested.

Getting there: Guildford has excellent transport links and there is a free car park at the start/finish point.

"Matt is a very experienced ultra runner so we bombarded him with questions! I learnt an awful lot during the day and came away from it very enthusiastic and excited for my ultra plans ahead."
