About the event
Flying Gazelle Dorchester Trail 10km (6.2 miles) and Half (13.1 miles). This is a good one. Two weeks to run either or both.
This trail course was created and run by Neil. Both trail route starts and finishes at Max Gate, a national Trust site located in Dorset. This atmospheric Victorian home was designed by the famous writer Thomas Hardy . From outside of Max Gate where parking is free, you simply cross the road and enter a breadth of public trail. You follow the Hardy Way signposted trail through undulated countryside with stunning views and farm life.
Off the Hardy Way you take a turn which is signposted onto the Jubilee Way Trail. The Jubilee Way is a 90 mile (145km) walk across Dorset from Forde Abbey on the Somerset border to Bokerley #CENSOR# on the Hampshire border. The trail winds through quiet villages, passing rural churches and offers extensive views of the rolling downs and secret valleys which make Dorset so special. It was created by the Dorset Area Ramblers’ Association in 1995 to celebrate sixty years of its founding.
Once you get to the end of the Jubilee Trail you are at the highest point elevation-wise on the route and it’s time to turn around (for the 10k route) and head back to Max Gate. Before you turn back though, the halfway point on the route places you next to the Came Down Golf Club, which is rich in history as it was founded in 1896 and was the birthplace of the Ryder Cup. The half marathon route does some more exploring before turning back.
This route is full of history, beautiful scenery, and challenging at the same time with undulating elevation, gravel paths and some technical trail. Enjoy running and remember to take pics!

Flying Gazelle Running is a family run project based in Dorset, England. We have a passion for running and wanted to express this by creating race events that are flexible and tailored to you.
As qualified Clinical Psychologists working in the NHS, we have experienced first hand the benefits that getting outdoors and walking/running can have on a persons physical and mental health. So this is our way to promote running, make it fun and interesting (and also challenging), and support mental health by hosting events each year in which 100% of profits go to mental health charities. We also plant 5 trees alongside every entry, to improve our carbon footprint.
Our events are for any and every runner, from the beginner to the seasoned pro. The difficulty of any race is determined by how much the runner puts in. You can walk, run, or sprint... we leave that up to you.
