We the organisers have a responsibility and duty of care towards our participants. The following regulations are to be followed for the duration of the event;
You must be 14 or over to participate in the 40K route, between 14 and 16 to participate in the medium route (80K) and 17 or 18 to participate in the 160K route. Under 18’s must have the consent of a parent or guardian and be accompanied by a nominated adult at all times whilst on the ride. All riders under 18 must have a signed parental consent form which includes details of the nominated adult that they will be riding with.
You must obey all Highway Code Rules. You are requested to ride in single file where appropriate and no more than 2 abreast at any time. Please be aware of your fellow cyclists and other traffic.
Please do not pass through any traffic lights on red. Derbyshire & Staffordshire Police may be patrolling the route and any cyclists found breaking the law may be subject to individual prosecution. Failure to comply with the rule will result in disqualification.
It is mandatory THAT ALL riders wear a safety approved cycling helmet complying with latest ANSI Z90/4 OR SNELL standards. Any rider not wearing a helmet will not be covered by the event insurance and will be disqualified from the event and could be liable for damages if involved in an accident on that basis.
Participants will be responsible for the road worthiness & safe working order of their own cycle.
Tri bars / aero bars are allowed, under a sensible use policy; they may not be used in group riding, heavy traffic or whilst approaching road junctions. We recommend they are only used whilst in solo situations. Failure to comply to this regulation will result in disqualification.

I have been organising multi-sport events for the past 21 years originally with Derby Triathlon Club. I have organised in excess of 100 Triathlon events ranging from one of the biggest pool based Triathlons in the East Midlands region to National qualification races, National Championships to an International Duathlon (Powerman).
I still have deep connections with Derby Triathlon Club where I am a Life Member and continue to race at a competitive level with ‘Tri Camp TFN RT’ team with British National Titles and a top 10 finish at a World Championship event.
I race at all distances from Sprint based pool events through to Ironman events I enjoyed racing overseas at my preferred Middle Distance events with Mallorca 70.3 and Alpe D’huez Long Course Triathlon in 2013 (I have concluded that I can still be competitive at this distance on a limited time budget!) This year I took part in the Mont Blanc Triathlon, which had beautiful scenery and we were extremely lucky with the weather too!
My two young children have now caught the bug and have enjoyed the thrill of racing and are becoming more experienced as they take part in each race. We have formed a junior triathlon racing team and they love racing with all their friends, in the UK and abroad!. They are both involved in a number of the local clubs and are great support during the organised races.

I am very lucky that I have a strong support network of marshalls in my wife (Jo), family and friends and I am always grateful for their continuing support and loyalty over the years and with whom the races wouldn’t be able to take place!! We are all part of the PMA Family!
