About the event

yorkshire 3 peaks challenge 2022

Due to the incredible popularity of our Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge, we're delighted to bring this epic trek back and make it even better for 2022!

40 kilometres. 3 peaks. 1 day. Could you conquer the Yorkshire 3 Peaks?

In 1 spectacular day, you’ll climb 3 of England’s highest mountains, trek across Yorkshire and marvel at the unparalleled panoramas you’ll get from the peaks.

The trek may be tough but with our expertly designed route, unsurpassable challenge support and unbeatable camaraderie, you will love every step of the adventure.

Hiking clockwise through the rolling Yorkshire Dales, we’ll warm up tackling Ingleborough and beating the biggest challenge of the day, the mighty Whernside in time for lunch. Then it's one final climb up the smaller Pen-y-Ghent before we descend for a glass of prosecco at the finish line.

Now sporting your Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge 2022 medal, you can settle down for a fantastic celebration dinner and a hot shower at our campsite.

Places are limited in our group and they are like to fill up incredibly fast for this popular challenge.

7pm | horton-in-ribblesdale

We meet on the night before our trek at a cosy campsite near Horton-in-Ribblesdale. Hidden at the heart of the Three Peaks area of the Yorkshire Dales, with Ingleborough and Pen-y-Ghent watching us from the distance, this quaint village makes the perfect place to commence our adventure. You have all day to make your own way to the campsite, in time for our compulsory registration and challenge briefing starting at 7pm.

We’ll welcome you upon your arrival with our tents already set up, but please bring your own sleeping bag. We’ll send all participants the full details of the campsite and how to get there as the event draws closer.

You have a chance to settle down and meet your fellow trekkers. Then, our awesome Challenge Leader will explain the challenge in full and you have the chance to ask questions. Following our briefing, we tuck into our welcome dinner the campsite, before a great night’s sleep for the big day tomorrow.

day 2

challenge day

We fuel up with a hearty breakfast at our campsite. Then we head for our first peak, Ingleborough, standing at approx. 723m/2,237ft! We follow clear tracks through the lush countryside and get our first real taste of the Yorkshire Dales. At this time in the morning, they are at their most serene.

Leaving the sublime panoramas from Ingleborough, we hike on to discover those of Whernside. Standing at a spectacular 736m/2,415ft, the second and highest peak gives us the biggest challenge of the day. From the foot of Ingleborough, we give our legs a bit of a break trekking a flat stretch between the mountains and then embark on the mighty climb to the highest point in the Yorkshire Dales.

If you thought the views from Ingleborough were pretty, Whernside’s will take your breath away. Surrounded by rolling fields and farmland, we can see all the way to Morecambe Bay and the sea beyond.

By this stage, we’re feeling the fatigue, so we fuel up with a delicious, packed lunch and then we’re on to climb to the third and final peak, Pen-y-Ghent. As the smallest peak, Pen-y-Ghent (694m/2,276ft) is the perfect peak to end the day.

With three peaks now behind us, we drink in the incredible vistas at the top and set our eyes on the finish line back at the campsite near Horton-in-Ribblesdale. That last step is bound to feel sublime, especially with a medal and glass of prosecco waiting for you!

There will be showers and hot water at our campsite, so you can freshen up after our trek. Then, tonight, we’ll celebrate our awesome achievement with a delicious dinner at a local restaurant or pub and rest for another night in the campsite.

Of course, you are also welcome to make your own way home after dinner or to make your own accommodation arrangements, rather than staying another night at the campsite with us. Simply let us know in advance.
