ABP Barry Island 10K

Sun, sea, and sand provide the backdrop to the ABP Barry Island 10K – which brings a summertime festival of running to the popular seaside resort with a 10K race and family fun run. Established in 2018, it has quickly become a firm favourite with runners – renowned for it’s varied and scenic route, unbeatable crowd support and feel-good atmosphere.

It’s delivered by Run 4 Wales, the events team behind the Cardiff Half Marathon & Newport Wales Marathon and forms part of the popular Healthspan Wales 10K Series.

The 10K race takes place on fully closed roads with a rewarding route showcasing all of the town’s most scenic seaside spots and recognisable landmarks – including Whitmore Bay, the Knapp, Romilly Park and Watch House Bay.

A host of children’s activities including a Family Fun Run and Toddler Dash take place along the promenade – giving budding athletes and families a chance to get in on the action.

Races start and finish at the iconic Whitmore Bay, which also hosts an exciting Event Village with live music, entertainment, stands and tasty street food. Relax on a deck chair post-run or enjoy an optional (but very much encouraged) dip in the sea on Barry’s sandy blue flag beach.

The race will return for 2021 on Sunday 1st August.
